Mags Beardow

face to face counselling - Dean Clough, Halifax, West Yorkshire
Telephone counselling - UK Wide

Hi, I’m Mags and I’m a qualified counsellor and work with adults and young people from my counselling room in Dean Clough in Halifax; and also by phone if travelling to my counselling room isn’t an option.

I have experience of counselling clients dealing with various issues including abuse, bereavement & loss, relationship concerns, anxiety and depression. I also have experience of working with people who can’t put their finger on what exactly is of concern for them, they just know something doesn’t feel quite right in their lives. In addition to my private work I currently work as a counsellor at a Women’s Centre, as an Outreach counsellor at a local employment charity and as a counsellor at a rape and sexual violence counselling centre. I also have experience of counselling students in a Further Education College.

Choosing a counsellor to work with can sometimes feel overwhelming so I thought it would be helpful to give you an idea of what I’m like and how I work.

Whatever your reason for seeking counselling you’ll find me approachable, warm, honest and down to earth.  I may wear a lot of floaty clothing but my approach to counselling definitely isn’t floaty and I want my clients to get something out of coming to see me: maybe for you that’s increased self-confidence, or accepting things from your past or perhaps clarifying where you want to be in your life.

Counselling isn’t just a chat though and although confiding in friends or relations can help, sometimes our concerns or worries need an objective, impartial outsider.  I’m happy to work with whatever brings you to counselling being open minded, non-judgemental and not easily shocked.

If I sound like the kind of person and counsellor who could help you please do get in touch.

Kathy Saville

Face to face counselling - Hebden Bridge & Halifax, west yorkshire
Telephone & Online counselling - UK wide

Hello my name is Kathy and I am an experienced and qualified Counsellor.

My background is working class, being brought up by an Irish miner and then in a children’s home, but my education affords me a middle class ease - I am comfortable working with all sorts of individuals, from all walks of life and I am curious and not easily shocked.

If you chose to work with me you will find that I think outside the box, anticipate what may or may not work and that I am someone who is thoughtful, observant and diligent, but also friendly, caring and genuine.
When you come to see me, the counselling session is about you, the focus is on you, … My particular skill is in helping you to know what it is you feel and how to be able to articulate it; sometimes for the first time to yourself, and then maybe if you need to, to someone else.

I work with men, women and with couples and I offer counselling supervision to counsellors or other psychologically interested professions. I currently work in a women’s centre, in employment wellbeing, in private practice and on a counselling helpline. For face to face work I am based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire but can offer occasional sessions in Halifax town centre. For clients out of area 50% of my work is by telephone/ skype.

If I feel like someone you could work with then please contact me.
I wish you well.
Kathy Saville (Registered counsellor and supervisor MBACP)

Kristian Shallcross

Face to face counselling - The Therapy Rooms, wakefield
Telephone & online Counselling - UK Wide

Hi I’m Kristian a Counsellor based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. I offer face to face counselling or alternatively via telephone and online.

It might be helpful if I told you a little bit about me, to help you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you. I’ve worked in the Charity sector for about 15 years prior to counselling in a variety of helping roles. I’m an open minded guy  who would describe myself as down to earth, valuing individuality and the right to choose how we define ourselves. My nature is quite philosophical, interested in life’s grey areas.

People come for counselling for many different reasons and these are individual to each person. I’m not interested in judging you but I am here to accept you as I find you.

My role is to meet you as you are, knowing that you are likely in a fragile place reading this. I recognise that life can be busy and that it can place high demands upon us where we can end up feeling stressed, anxious or find ourselves feeling lost. Some people just find themselves losing the connection with themselves and others.

I have worked with people experiencing trauma, identity issues, abuse and loss.  Counselling has put me in touch with people who may be experiencing anxiety, depression or both. This not an exhaustive list and I'd be happy to have a discussion with you regarding your needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

Ian Wood

face to face counselling - Dean Clough, Halifax, west yorkshire

Hi, I’m Ian. I began counselling after changes in my family life made me question what direction I was going in and what I really wanted from life. The decision to leave my  career in plastering, to become a stay at home parent and begin counselling training, was one filled with anxiety and fears of the unknown. This experience has helped me to appreciate how difficult it can be to begin or accept change in our lives, and how sometimes we need the support of another to help find a way forward.

Sometimes it may feel that our worries or problems are less important than the next person’s. Anxieties and depressions in our everyday lives may appear insignificant when we compare them to the sufferings and pain of others in society. However, our individual, personal issues are unique to us and they hurt, therefore they matter. When counselling I treat and respect all my clients as the individuals they are, working together to help find a way forward through your problems.

For me counselling is not about diagnosing and treating. Only you know what truly hurts and what is needed, so you should be the one to decide the direction of the sessions and bring what is important to you. My role is to help build a therapeutic relationship with you, where together we can explore and discover an understanding of your experience of life.
