face to face - Dean Clough, Halifax
online & Telephone counselling - UK Wide

Hi, I’m Mags and I counsel adults and young people from my counselling room in Dean Clough in Halifax; and also offer online & telephone counselling if that’s more convenient.

Whatever your reason for seeking counselling you’ll find me approachable, warm, honest and down to earth.  I may wear a lot of floaty clothing but my approach to counselling definitely isn’t floaty

Whether its brief time limited or long term counselling you require I want my clients to get something out of coming to see me: maybe for you that’s increased self-confidence or self esteem, or accepting things from the past, understanding yourself better or perhaps clarifying where you want to be in your life.

Counselling isn’t just a chat though and although confiding in friends or relations can help, sometimes our concerns or worries need a trained, objective outsider.

I’ve worked with clients dealing with many diverse issues including grief and bereavement, trauma and abuse, feeling hopeless or down, struggling with their identity as well as dealing with the impact of events such as divorce, death of a loved one, redundancy and terminal or life limiting illness diagnosis. I’ve also worked with with people who can’t quite put their finger on what exactly is concerning them, they just know something doesn’t feel quite right with their lives.

I have worked with a lot of clients who work in either the Arts & Creative Industries or Financial Services. I particularly enjoy working with clients from these industries as I know both industries well; having worked in them before I re-trained as a counsellor. I’ve also recently completed a Masters degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice which focused on counselling individuals with neurodivergent process and/or eating disorders so have a deep knowledge of working within this area.

As well as counselling privately in the past I have counselled at a Women’s Centre, an Employment and Enterprise Charity, a Further Education College and at a rape and sexual violence counselling centre.

I am registered and recognised with many Insurance providers and Employee Assistance Programmes and am therefore happy to work with clients accessing counselling via this route.

If you think I could help you, please do get in touch and we can have a chat and see if you think I’m the right counsellor for you.
Warm wishes Mags
