Hello my name is Kathy and I am an experienced and qualified Counsellor.
My background is working class, being brought up by an Irish miner and then in a children’s home, but my education affords me a middle class ease - I am comfortable working with all sorts of individuals, from all walks of life and I am curious and not easily shocked.
If you chose to work with me you will find that I think outside the box, anticipate what may or may not work and that I am someone who is thoughtful, observant and diligent, but also friendly, caring and genuine.
When you come to see me, the counselling session is about you, the focus is on you, … My particular skill is in helping you to know what it is you feel and how to be able to articulate it; sometimes for the first time to yourself, and then maybe if you need to, to someone else.
I work with men, women and with couples and I offer counselling supervision to counsellors or other psychologically interested professions. I currently work in a women’s centre, in employment wellbeing, in private practice and on a counselling helpline. For face to face work I am based in Todmorden, West Yorkshire but can offer occasional sessions in Halifax town centre. For clients out of area 50% of my work is by telephone/ skype.
